NB I'm aware that there are other ways of achieving the same thing, such as installing WoG (for Heroes III) or using the Heroes HD patch. Theres 1 post over there about how to set up via PlayOnMac but it doesnt say anything about Wine. Location of the installer made no difference. In the end as far as i can remember (3 months ago) all i did was downloading the setup.exe from ascension-homepage, and starting it with wine.

If I download the patch, extract the EXE from the RAR archive and run it under Windows, a nice little installer appears that guides you through the installation process.
